Alligator Pint is a very unique house; it is located a on a beautiful Gulf beach and at a place where Alligator Point becomes very narrow. The lots there extend from the Gulf to Bay, you have two beaches, one on the Gulf of Mexico and one on Alligator Harbor. This is something very rare, I don’t know anywhere else you can rent a beach house right on two different water bodies with private access to both. The lot is about 150 feet wide and 400 feet deep, with 150 feet of private beach on both the Gulf of Mexico and Alligator Harbor. The road down Alligator Point passes through the lot between the house and the bay, but it is not a very busy road, it leads only to a small marina and about 40 more houses and then dead ends. There are no public beaches or parks or public a ccesses beyond the house or anywhere near it. You will not see many people on either beach. On the bay side there is a mooring to tie your boat to and a very calm but sandy beach. It is a nice place to soak. On the Gulf side the water is not usually very rough but it is the open Gulf and very different. From the house it is about 200 feet to the Gulf and maybe 100 feet to the bay. To the left is the view is the view from the screened porch. The house is a comfortable old Florida beach house, built in the early 50’s and not much changed. It is rustic, clean and comfortable but not fancy. The interior is all wood, really nice cypress and heart pine, no sheet rock or carpet in this house! Termites, hurricanes and lots of kids have taken their toll but the house is recently refurbished, every thing in good working order and it is as nice to stay in as ever. Probably nicer, today we have central heat and air. You will feel quite comfortable in walking right in from the water and into the house. The owner comes from a family of artists and the rooms are decorated with various interesting murals. The floor is painted wood with artistically done paint splatters; a wide variety of colors. The house is mostly on one floor, one story up. It is all wood, the floors are painted wood, the walls are all old cypress planks also painted, and the ceiling is tong and groove (maybe pine) painted as well. There is no sheet rock in the house. The ceilings are high, 10 ft or more. A lot of has recently been done to the house, restoring it and making it comfortable. The bathrooms are old and the fixtures are old, but they are all kept in good working order and look nice. The kitchen is simple but adequate and there is a spare refrigerator down stairs. The house has newly installed central air conditioning and heat. There is a washer and dryer. I could not write this without mentioning the openness of the house and the breezes. This house was built long before people had air-conditioning and so they put a lot of big doors and windows in to ventilate the house. There are 3 sets of French doors that open towards the Gulf and lots of windows and a door on the opposite side of the house. The house also sits on a big sand dune. If you open these doors and windows the house really catches the breeze. You almost never really need the air conditioner only when it is oppressively hot and no breeze, I have not been a house that was better set up to catch the breezes than Alligator Pint.
